“The Yemeni (Houthi) Armed Forces conducted a targeted military operation against the ‘Contship Ono’ vessel in the Red Sea with various ballistic missiles and drones, and thanks to Allah the strike was accurate”, the Shiite insurgents reported in a statement on the first of the announced attacks.
The note, which did not specify whether the attack was carried out on this same day, detailed that the ship was attacked for violating “the ban on access to ports of occupied Palestine” imposed by the Houthis against ships heading for Israeli ports.
The Houthis also claimed “a specific military operation against the US destroyer ‘Cole’ in the Gulf of Aden with several drones”, and another against the US destroyer ‘Laboon’, with several ballistic missiles.
“The attack on the two American destroyers took place as they crossed the Yemeni (Houthi) Armed Forces’ area of operations in the direction of the northern Red Sea, within the United States military protection that continues to be provided to the Israeli enemy”, added the statement.
The Houthis consider “all US military movements in the naval area of operations as supporting actions to the Israeli enemy and hostile activities”, stated in the note that they would not hesitate to use all available means to deter such actions.
